About Us
Jenny and I met in San Diego at work in 1996. We were friends and softball teammates. In October 1997, we started dating. After both living in San Diego for 8 years, we wanted a change so we decided to move to San Francisco in June of 1998. We loved it and have lived here ever since (with the exception of a nine-month stay in Newport Beach). After several years of living together, we decided to get married. Our ceremony was September 2002 at a small chapel in the Presidio. We had a baby, Elise, in December 2004. We have lived in Nob Hill, Soma, and the Mission. We currently live in the Miraloma neighborhood of San Francisco, near Twin Peaks.
About Ted Van Huisen
I was born in 1972 in the Los Angeles area. I grew up in the LA and San Diego beach areas. I graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1990. I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps (1990-1994) as a Field Artillery Surveyor and as a Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival (MCIWS). After I got out of the Marines, I pursued my education in Political Science and graduated from UC Berkeley in 2000. I have been working in the software industry since 1996 as a Project Manager. I am currently working as a senior manager for one of the large consulting firms.
About Jenny Van Huisen (a.k.a. Jenny Merrill)
Jenny was born in raised in the LA area. She moved down to San Diego to complete her degree in nutrition at San Diego State University. She has worked as an analyst in the software industry since 1995 and is currently working in software development at a large bank in San Francisco’s Financial District.
About Elise Van Huisen
Elise was born December 16th, 2004. She likes to play, sing, dance and get into everything she can
find. She is currently working on becoming the valedictorian of her preschool class by excelling in counting, sounding out letters, and refining her work in the medium of safety scissors and paper.
About Lily Ann Van Huisen
Lily was born April 14th, 2008. She enjoys eating and playing in cardboard boxes with her sister.
About this site
This site was designed as a means for us to keep in touch with our friends and family across the country. I use WordPress for content management. I use Flickr for image hosting and management. The upload process on Flickr is a breeze and the navigation, usability, and customization are second to none.
As for hosting, I use Laughing Squid. I have been with Laughing Squid since 2007 and I have never had a problem with them. I use them for web and email hosting.
